We can’t wait to give you an update on the retreats that took place this past weekend. You’ll have to tune in next week for those. But we wanted to share this picture from the girls’ retreat. The three girls have been friends for years. We have pictures of them playing together when they were little, and we’ve been blessed to watch them grow up together.
As they grow together, they have someone to encourage them, to remind them of who they are and Whose they are, to tell them that they are worthy. Creating that kind of community is a big part of what these retreats are about. We hope that each of the young men and women who attended the retreats and who takes part in our Bible studies will find that kind of community there. We are praying for the kind of connection written about in these verses:
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
With those verses in mind, here is what we’re praying this week:
- Pray that our young men and women will continue to encourage one another after the retreats. Pray that they will point on another toward Christ. Pray that they will choose each day to follow Christ and to live in His love and peace, even in when they face difficulties.
- Pray for the families of the young people who attended the retreats. Pray that they will be inspired by their children’s faith. Pray that they see the changes in their children and that, if they don’t already know Christ, they will come to know Him. Pray for peace in families and in the communities our young people are returning to.
We’ve been so encouraged by what we’ve seen and heard from those who were in El Salvador this past week, and we look forward to sharing with you next week. Thank you so much for taking the time to join us in prayer each week!
